Touching and Tying – weaving together massage and rope bondage.
Originating from Japan, the beautiful art of Kinbaku (or Shibari) is the form of rope bondage used to restrict movement, wrap, or restrain a person. An aesthetic art form and a form of erotic play. Energy and power is exchanged through the rope between the Dom/Rigger and sub/bunny, heightening the sensation and their connection.
Rope is sensitive and dynamic. It can act like a conductor of energy and information between bodies. When we involve rope in our play, we work with different types of touch; from the light gliding of rope on the skin, through to the firm compression of rope as the Rigger wraps, frictions, cinches, and moulds their rope-bunny into a beautiful bind.
In this workshop, Luke will teach some basic principles of both Kinbaku and massage techniques, leading a suggested sequence of touch and ties – with ample time for play!
We will build our sense of connection, trust, confidence and surrender. We will explore how we touch with our hands, our bodies and through our rope. We will explore how the rope can be an extension of our own bodies through connecting physical touch and binding with rope.
In this workshop, participants will work in Giver/Receiver (Rigger/bunny) pairings. Come with a partner to work with, or meet one at the workshop. No previous experience required. Rope provided
Luke George is a professional performance artist and bodyworker with a practice in sensual and tantric massage, and rope bondage (a.k.a. Charlesincharge). Based in Narrm-Melbourne, his work takes him across Australia and throughout Asia, Europe and North America where he performs, teaches, massages and ties. Luke is passionate about the potential for healing and transformation through touch and energy exchange. Luke creates safe environments for men who identify as gay, bi, straight, queer, trans and non-binary, to explore dynamic intimacy based on a foundation of mutual respect. Luke believes that exploring intimacy with our bodies and with each other is a radical and necessary action in the world today. And that pleasure is good for you!
